A full-time research assistant is required in the Department of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture and Bioresources to assist in managing the Weed Science research program under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Chris Willenborg.
Job Description: The successful candidate will work independently and can complete all aspects of assigned duties, exercising judgment within established guidelines. Adapts established methods and practices and develops new ones to solve problems and discusses difficult or anomalous issues or problems with the principal investigator to determine appropriate solutions.
Qualifications: MSc in Plant Sciences, Biology or related field. A strong background in field research, especially in the areas of weed science and agronomy; excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language; ability to work both independently and in a team-based, collaborative environment. Good working knowledge for SAS, MS Excel, MS Word, email and internet software applications. Demonstrated ability to organize and implement complex, time sensitive projects. Must possess a good working knowledge of safety procedures and protocols and must possess a valid Saskatchewan drivers’ license sufficient to pull a loaded fifth wheel trailer or obtain one. Experience in managing a research project and supervision of employees would be an asset.
